TASMANIA – Taxi licence release angers cabbies who are battling to survive in the face of Uber’s rise. – ATLOA

Struggling cabbies have hit out at a State Government decision to make a further 16 taxi owner-operator licences available in Hobart as Uber continues to hurt the industry. The minimum tender price for an owner-operator licence in Hobart is set at $60,000. The release comes after a moratorium prevented any additional licences being made available in all taxi areas in 2016 and 2017, and in Hobart in 2018.
