Waived annual taxi licence fees at a total cost of $240,000 but no lifeline for retired taxi owners

Many Tassie taxi licenses have been returned to owners

A drop in the bucket. Where is the rest of the Tasmanian state stimulus packages, financial support and relief? Australian government coronavirus stimulus packages should also cover taxi plate owners who have invested heavily into the Tasmanian Taxi Industry. There are some 228 perpetual plate owners and they are receiving no real financial help.

Time for a Buy Back as a Rescue Package

Why are plate owners being crucified for this, especially those in retirement? How are they going to pay their bills. Some don’t have the luxury to look for work, which doesn’t exist.

Why not offer us a buy-back at the price the plate was purchased? The argument that it is a free market, is a fallacious one as the State Government has manipulated this market.
